CAG MEMBER SPOTLIGHT: CONNIE JOHNS

"Fading Cactus" Watercolor on Yupo $125
THE ART OF CONNIE JOHNS
I enjoy re-creating landscapes with a particular emphasis on flowers because it is interesting to interpret Mother Nature.  I make many attempts to see the frailness in flowers and the strength in trees.  Nature is my best inspiration, and I have learned from many art teachers about the importance of observation.  Nature never fails to amaze me, and I do appreciate her majesty.  The interdependence of nature reveals the oneness of all living things, and my body of work is meant to demonstrate that unity.

Travel is another catalyst that inspires my imagination.  Visiting places that have different landscapes and cultures stimulates my creativity and causes me to remain engaged in painting.

Watercolor is an entertaining medium because you can be loose in application as well as precise, but it will be very rewarding when colors and composition merge.

"Wyoming's Point"  Watercolor on Yupo
$130
''Navajo Novelty" Watercolor on Yupo
$100

Connie Johns and Jackie Swank part of Advanced Painting Exhibit at LCCC

Painting done on yupo paper by Connie Johns

Painting done on yupo paper by Connie Johns
We have quite a few CAG members that are faithful to reach for continued growth as an artist by attending art classes at Laramie County Community College here in Cheyenne. Currently,  the advanced painting class of instructor Ron Medina, is exhibiting in the halls of the Fine Arts Building. The display is of mono-prints done with yupo paper.  Professor Media, thought it would be a wonderful addition to the class to teach those with an interest how to do this type of printmaking. Connie Johns and Jackie Swank are two of our members that are evolved in this exhibit.    If you are in the area of LCCC be sure to check out Connie and Jackie's work!

Also, if you are a CAG Member, exhibiting in this or any other show, let us know, we at CAG would love to congratulate you for striving to perfect and express yourself through art!
