Western Spirit Call for Entries extended to November 15th

I wanted to reach out to all of you with an extended deadline for Western Spirit – November 15th and also to let you know that I have been working with CafĂ© to make the application process easier.  If you have any questions, I am here to help you. Please don’t hesitate to call and I will get back to you as soon as I am able. I want to make sure that you have the information and ability to enter the show and can accommodate all questions.

Western Spirit Call to Artists

All entries will go through www.callforentry.org. Be sure to download the instructions for entry below.


The 2014 Western Spirit will open on Saturday March 1, 2014 and run through Sunday, April 13, 2014.  The Art Show showcases the works of over 100 western artists. This juried show is one of the region’s premier western art exhibits awarding cash prizes.

New media categories to Western Spirit this year are Photography and Printmaking to the traditional categories of: Oil, Pastel, Acrylic, Sculpture, Watercolor, Pencil and Mixed Media.

For Members Only!


If you haven't joined the Cheyenne Artists Guild
 here is another good reason to sign up!  

All members of the guild are invited to see the CFD Western Art Show and Sale at the Old West Museum!!! This will be on July 23 at 8:30 a.m.  Members must notify the CAG office if they care to attend.  The guild office will keep the list and obtain the parking permits and anything else needed for entry.  

Members if you want to take advantage of this opportunity please let us know as soon as possible so arrangements can be made!

CAG Members Receive Awards at the 2012 Wyoming Artists Association Convention

This past May 4th through May 6th the Wyoming Artists Association Convention was held in Cheyenne at the Old West Museum.  Friday afternoon artists from over the state of Wyoming brought their paintings and sculpture entering into 8 categories as well as competing for the coveted awards in Congressional, Governors, Best of Show and Peoples Choice. Friday evening artists donated 6x6 inch paintings for the silent auction.  Also that evening, a quick draw was held with a live auction. Saturday, artists Mike Beeman (pastels and oils) and Joan Fullerton (watercolor landscapes) taught workshops as the Wyoming artists' work were judged by Cheyenne gallery owner, Harvey Deselms. Later that day paintings and sculptures were awarded with  ribbons.  A banquet with music was held at the Plains Hotel Saturday evening. The convention wrapped up Sunday with the completion of the workshops and the last award of Peoples Choice was presented.  If your a Wyoming artist you should mark your calendar to join in on the tradition in 2013, the convention will once again be in Cheyenne!

The painting by this artist will hang in Wyoming Governors Matt Mead's office for the next year.

Three paintings receiving this award will hang for the next year in Washington DC at the Wyoming Congressional Offices of Senators Mike Enzi, John Barrasso and Representative, Cynthia Lummis.  One painting created by each of the following artists were chosen.

Wyoming Artists Association 2012 Convention!

The 2012 Convention of the Wyoming Artists Association will be held in Cheyenne, WY, May 4-6, 2012.  The conference features an Art Exhibit and Quick-draw as well as an opportunity to attend workshops by artists, Joan Fullerton (Landscapes in Water Media) and Mike Beeman (Pastel,  Acrylic and/or Oil).  The meeting will be held at the Cheyenne Frontier Days Old West Museum.  For more information contact Wyoming Artist Association President, Anita Laycock Hunt at 307-634-8612 or Treasurer, Steve Rodriguez at 307-286-4175.
