ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
We will be practicing with various watercolor techniques during the two days.  We will also be painting a formal painting together.  Diane incorporates an easy-to-understand teaching style, taking the participants step by step through each phase of the painting process.  At the end of the workshop each person will have a finished, or near-finished watercolor painting.  Photo references along with step-by-step written instructions will be provided. The workshop is opened for beginners to advanced participants.  It's helpful if folks have had some watercolor experience but certainly is not necessary...every body's welcome as each person will receive as much individual attention as possible.

DIANE'S BIO:
Diane grew up in Texas.  She learned to draw at the early age of 3.   Her parents would pass out paper and pencils to her and her younger sisters during the sermons in church to keep the young artists quiet. Diane was usually known as “the artist” throughout grade school, junior and senior high schools.  She attended North Texas State University and East Texas State University, graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Art.

Whether depicting horses, portraits, landscapes, images of ranch life or wildlife her paintings illustrate the richness of any given moment in time. Diane works mostly in watercolor.  She finds the challenge of the medium allows her to both achieve great detail while at the same time allowing the paint to ‘go it’s own way”, mixing and mingling in random patterns which results in surprising color and edge combinations.

Diane has distinguished herself with her creative and passionate images that celebrate her fondness of watercolor. She has participated in and received awards from many regional and national shows such as The Bosque Conservatory of Art (Clifton, Tx.), the Mountain Oyster Club Show (Tucson, Az.), the Rocky Mountain National Watermedia Exhibit (Golden, Co.), the Western Spirit Art Show (Cheyenne, Wy.) and many others.  Diane is proud to be represented by the Wild Horse Gallery in Steamboat Springs and her work is in private collections both nationally and internationally.

Diane has 37 years experience working with watercolor.  She teaches both watercolor classes and workshops.  “I have learned so much from my teachers and other artists who were generous in their willingness to share their knowledge and experiences in this exciting medium.  It gives me great pleasure to pass along to others what I have learned over the years.”
